Healthy Diet Healthy Life
Strategy Sprint
The vision of Healthy Diet Healthy Life is that by 2030 all citizens will have the motivation, ability and opportunity to consume a healthy diet from a variety of foods, have healthy levels of physical activity and that the incidence of diet-related diseases will have decreased significantly.
The initiative ‘Healthy Diet, Healthy Life’ (HDHL), is made up of 17 member countries in and outside Europe. Together, they are working on the integration of research in the areas of food, nutrition, health and physical activity, to help prevent or minimize lifestyle-related chronic diseases. Its headquarters are in The Hague.
Jessica Doppler is Senior Program Manager for International Cooperation, External Relations & European Government Liaison for HDHL.
Jessica approached Twine to work with HDHL’s Steering Group on the organisation’s strategy to respond to the changing environment.
Jessica and I agreed on a service design inspired sprint workshop over two days to explore scenarios for their 5-10 year strategy. The output would be a two year action plan to implement the strategy, how to communicate about it and how the team would deliver against it.
As the facilitator, I guided the group through a series of interactive exercises, working through value proposition, insight statements and “how might we” to explore future strategies.
The results of the workshop were significant. As well as the foreseen action plan, HDHL realised that its long acronym (previously JPI HDHL) was no longer fit for purpose and decided to simplify its name (a recommendation Twine made early on) and won new funding to continue its work promoting and funding research in the areas of nutrition, health, lifestyle, and food.
